Our Nation’s Birthday Is Here!

Posted to Pam Marshall

The closer it gets to the 4th of July, the more excited I get! I absolutely love fireworks and get the Goosebumps when they start! I personally don’t have to go far to watch them and have sat in the same spot for 17 years – my neighbor’s driveway. I live on a double cul-de-sac and we have 13 neighbors and their families that all get together and experience this annual tradition. They typically have extended family members with them that are visiting, be it their parents, grown children or grandchildren. Everyone drags out their lawn chairs with blankets and/or sleeping bags for the kids to lay on in the street. We never worry about any cars since everyone is home. Do you know where the famous Declaration of Independence was adopted and signed giving us our most precious gift – FREEDOM? It was at Independence Hall (originally the Pennsylvania State House) located on Chestnut Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is a red brick building designed by Edmund Woolley and Andrew Hamilton, built between 1732 and 1753. Besides the photo that I have attached to the blog, you can always see Independence Hall on the back of the $100 bill. Independence Hall’s bell tower steeple was the original home of the Liberty Bell.
