Stetsons and Stilettos at the CC Yin Ranch
Saturday was a peaceful day in Vacaville, a bit cooler than the usual…a bit blustery at times. It was actually my birthday, and I couldn’t think of a nicer way to spend it than participating in a huge fundraiser to fight cancer.
Stetsons and Stilettos was held at the CC Yin Ranch—and that was worth the price of admission, alone! Driving out Pleasants Valley, then into the open gates…and along a road nestled among trees and grasses, surprisingly green for this time of year. Then into the estate, past a sparkling lake—complete with fishing poles dangling in the water!
The event started outside with drinks and finger foods being served while guests browsed through the incredible amount of silent raffle items, and took a peek at the offerings for the live auction to be held later. I bid on several, and won the two closest to my heart—and gorgeous handmade quilt from a talented local artist, and scuba lessons for my sweet hubby.
I’m not a western sort of girl, but I loved seeing friends and fellow Vacavillians dressed up in their western garb and Stetsons…and Stilettos!
Then inside the amazing barn like structure for dinner & fun, and amazing stories of cancer survivors and leaders in the fight against cancer…and a surprisingly interesting talk by a researcher.
A great event, and a strong indicator that the local economy is rebounding and in fact growing…and that our community is a community of supporters for the things that count! I’m proud to be a part of it, and I am in awe of those who work so hard to put on events like this, and those who gave so generously!
And if you want to become on of our community members, remember…call me! We’d love to welcome you to our little part of the world!
